Well it's here at last. And as expected, aimed at trendy customers for show and going to Waitrose in muddy wellies. Mile-long options list with fashion add-ons. An abomination, if you ask me...
No way I'd ever trade in my td5 for something like that!

I quite like it and it seems that it will be awesome (electronically) offroad.
The problem seems to be calling it a Defender as it isn't really a Defender...
...so what should it be called?

Land Rover Raj 102" & 119" would be nearer the mark.

It should be called a Discovery smaller than a sport but longer with more options but better looking than a normal discovery but not bling enough to fall into the Range Rover line apart from the Evoque which is for people who want to be seen in a Range Rover but can only afford a Freelander but they don't make a Freelander anymore anyway and the Discovery Sport has the wrong badge with lots of options to let people know that it can do all these amazing roughty toughty things but noone ever buys the options as they don't need them to get to their meeting in the city but they know it can which means that they are an explorer and cool not someone with a boring office job.

A friend of mine got up to £86k just adding a winch, mudflaps and a couple of other routine items....

I think people would much prefer it to the discovery 5
My wife wants a discovery sport I don't need repair bills like that in my life!
