SWMBO is scheduled to have both knees replaced, starting in the middle of next month. This will prevent her driving for a month (twice), and then make an automatic very desirable.

She currently drives a Hyundai IX20, about 14 months old, with circa 3000 miles on the odometer. But, for the last 15 months, she has been chauffeur to our daughter and her two ginormous offspring. We also have a JTR. I anticipate she may need to carry a wheelchair for an unknown period. Something bigger would be desirable.

Strangely, the Hyundai dealer does not seem keen to sell her a new Tuscon. ??? In all other ways, his attitude and service have been superb.

As she runs the grand children around, in all weathers, occasional 4x4 would be desirable, but shouldn't have to deal with more than urban slush.

The Hyundai main dealer is three miles away. The Suzuki dealer is four miles the other way, but a prettier route. Central Milton Keynes V Stony Stratford.

As she only does low mileage, fuel consumption is not an issue, but the other overheads are.

An elderly Disco would fit the bill, but they seem to be getting bad press. Barbara wrote off my last Disco, when her SAAB ran amok ... in reverse gear. She also rammed the Transit clone parked on the other side of the road. I heard it's front tyre "trump" as it was pushed sideways over the kerb. She only traveled about 20 feet, from a standing start, but spectacularly wrote off three vehicles.

So ... new Hyundai Tuscon V new Suzuki Vitara V well used Discovery (but a lot cheaper) V suggestions. ??? Whichever, it must be an automatic.

Don't force it, use a bigger hammer, cos if it doesn't fit, the hammer is not big enough.
