I am using an old 2.8 short wheelbase Pajero on our Farm but it seems to be giving up ,difficult to start no ABS smokes a lot. My guess is its gummed up as it never gets run on the road but all the 4WD systems work, front diff lock middle diff lock and rear diff lock. Worth trying to salvage it?

I am trying to decide on a replacement but am torn between a Land Cruiser or Shogun.
Our land is steep so diff locks really help.

Should I block the EGS system blaking it as any new purchase will only be used on the farm so it will never get a good blast?

It will also be good to be able to use the 4wd system on tarmac as we get snowed in and use a 4wd to batter our way out.

I'd keep the mitsi just for the look of it but they're a real pig once they start to give up the ghost. You'll probably find your EGR is already blanked (with soot). If it's had it get a LC if your fuel budget will allow.

If the current vehicle does the job and is repairable I would do that. You could try injector cleaner or one of these companies that come and flush them through if you think there's nothing mechanically wrong.

If you want to swap the 80 series land cruiser with the 6 cylinder diesel is a very reliable vehicle with a full set of locking diffs and solid axles and would be my choice of the two.
