I've been off roading for years, sporadically posting on here. After a few years of getting wet on quad bikes I've bought something with a roof.

Purchased as a non-runner for £950 this 2002 UK Shogun was in very good condition but would not rev above 2,500rpm and had virtually no torque at any revs. The throttle was unresponsive and I had to limp it back home from Southampton driving between 30 and 70mph (depending on the incline) on a dual carriageway.

That terror over I recruited a like-minded petrol head and we set about figuring out what was wrong. It took about a week of poking and prodding, piggy-backing ECU sensors (we couldn't talk to the ECU over OBD) and guess-work.

Stumping up £940 for a replacement high pressure fuel pump was a tough pill to swallow but, once fitted, the vehicle ran exactly as it should.

The build has now started with it getting new shoes Smile

These are Toyo Open Country MT in 235/85/16. They're oversized by about 1.5" and clear the arches at least in road use even at full lock. Yet to confirm that they continue to clear the arches off road Smile

For those considering the tyres: They do hum a bit, especially noticeable because the V6 GDI petrol is very quiet. On road tyres the vehicle is a quiet drive but on the muds the noise is quite apparent. They are not as noisy as a lot of mud tyres I've used in the past Smile
