|
|
|
With reference to my previous "which truck?" thread. I'm looking into replacing my Pajero with a JK Wrangler.
http://forum.difflock.com/viewtopic.php?t=78892
I was hoping someone might be able to answer a question for me!...
When I was previously looking at suspension to improve articulation on a 90/Defender I came across dis-location cones and suspension re-location brackets etc. Now I've been looking into kits for a JK and such items don't seem to come up; are they not needed?
Any help, advice greatly received.
Cheers

Because defender are essentially a commercial vehicle they use a relatively hard short spring. Wrangler being a recreational vehicle uses relatively soft long springs. Defender can therefore run out of spring extension before the axle is fully drooping if the dampers have enough travel to accommodate. Wrangler springs have more travel under droop so less of a problem.

My older 90 pickup was a big numb brute of a thing. It rode so hard it compressed your spine and yet would roll on corners like a boat in a gale. The suspension only ever really made sense with half a tonne of cargo in the back but then extra weight killed off what little performance the oil burner would give. Oh and it was LOUD and leaked like a colander.
When I was replacement hunting I had a go in a few wrangler and they were a revelation to drive and be inside but unfortunately not quite practical enough for my specific requirements so I went for a cherokee sport and a Jimny because between them they cover my requirements better with less compromise than one car trying to do all of it.
