Hi,

I'm brand new to the forum and looking fir some advice. I've just bought a 2013 L200 Warrior and want to sort the tyres out. I spend a fair bit of time off-road (farmer), a mostly farms tracks and wet grass with some steep inclines and a spot of mud thrown in. I also do quite high road mileage. I know I can fit 265/75/17 on the truck but how will that affect handling? I'm really happy with the lack of body roll on the stock 245/65/17. Would I be better to stick with 65 profile sidewalls to avoid excess body roll. If I go 265/65/17 that will still give me more clearance won't it?

Your probably looking at about 3" difference in diameter of tyre between the two so roughly an extra 1.5" under the diffs with the taller tyre. A bigger wall will give more and an AT tyre wall will probably give more than a road tyre.

On my Isuzu I went size for size from Bridgestone Duellers to Cooper Discoverer AT3 and it was noticeable that it rolled more in the corners and I lost some feeling through the steering. There was also more road noise at 60+ mph.

Depends what's more important to you, if you don't belly out with your current tyres then you don't need to go bigger you just need better grip so a stock size all terrain might be all you need.

265/75R17 tyres are huge compared to what you have now (if you can find any most people usually go for 285/75R17). They usually go the Chevy Tacoma, I would of thought (as has been suggested in the above posting)to go for something only slightly larger than above just to aid ground clearance, as something 265/75 or above could well leave you having to use the gearbox a fair bit more just to keep up.

I would of thought something 245/70-17,245/75-17, or even 255/75-17 would be better for you, taking into account the need to buy 5 of them.

Check out Yokohama Geolandar Tyres. 'AT-S G012' (there are also G015)
Good road, snow and offroad track tyres, maybe not enough grip in mud for you but i like them compared to BF Goodrich or Cooper All Terrains.
