Right I have a p 38 and soon need some rubber, it has 255/55 18 on it but some tyre palces say it should 16.... so what is the right size for a 1997 range rover 2.5 dse

I would expect a 2.5 TD to be on 235/70R16. The optional fitments on a P38 would have been 255/65R16 or 255/55R18. Those options also cover a base model 4.0 V8i. So you have an optional factory fitment on yours.
