I am stripping and rebuilding a vehicle from here, it is taking time and I am not rushing all i have is a naked frame right now, but its a Blitz outback.

I am thinking of cutting the cross members that protect the driver and pasenger left and right, basicly cutting them in half removing the front half and welding that straight down to the lower sill.
any thoughts as to what the MOT man may think about that, because the "outstanding" side protection is not compatable with ease entering and exiting the vehicle.
stock photo of frame for you to judge.

well there would be if I could work out how to do it, any way your advice please.

I think it will make no difference to the MOT guy 1) because it's not a stock vehicle i.e. Vitara so he wont have details of it and 2) he'll only be checking out MOTable stuff like brakes steering exhaust etc.

The part you are thinking of cutting out is part of the roll cage and could possibly be part of the strength of the cage so removing it could weaken the structure causing the cage to flatten in a roll...

Please don't say you don't intend to roll it - none of us do an intentional roll, but it does happen

I will have a look, I am working back to front on the vehicle, I am removing all the stuff done by the first builder, as I have said I have time, so all the loose rattely bits have come off and a more "substantial" tub is in the back, now a little bit of welding to be done back there before I move on to the doors (center)
so all ideas are welcome. Very Happy
