Hey folks i have a scrap 2001 L200 with a good engine, i've been offered a good straight 2002 L200 with a cooked engine, my mechanical skills wouldn't stretch to a full engine swop and so i was wondering if swoping the heads over would be enough or will the rest of the cooked engine be scrap? It has much less miles on it than the other.

It would be far easier to do an engine swap than a head swap - you might have to keep things like the pump and anything else the ECU talks to but you'd only need standard tools, no professional tools like torque wrenches and special sockets

I agree with Xpajun - changing the heads and sorting timing etc will take more knowledge and specialist tools. Also depending on the reason for the engine over heating, it may well have done damage to the bottom end that you wont know about until you've got it up and running. If doing it myself I would be swapping in the complete engine!
