This is a which way around question

Now the tyres on this truck are the wrong way around... or are they?

If the tyre are the correct way (opposite to the photo) they grab and push the mud to the outside

If the tyres are as shown in the pic then the mud is pulled into the centre and generates more traction?

Anyone want to comment?

They may generate more traction initially but once the treads are full you then have smooth tyres. By fitting them the other way round the idea is that they self clean as they rotate through the mud. This is only my understanding of how it works and I have no reference for the information given so this could be a load of bull Laughing .

For Mud they are the wrong way round, you want them to self clear.Combines have the chevrons facing down on the front and usually facing up on the rear, but not always.Know of farmers with loader tractors who run the fronts facing up this to a certain extent gives them traction both ways. Telehandlers have them running all the same way.In severe mud conditions once the chevrons fill up they are as good as a racing slick.Useless information, you want to run them the direction the picture shows for crossing deep water, lakes etc.
