Hi all,
Really want to get into off roading. My mate has not long started and I'm obsessed lol.

Little bit clueless. Looking for any advice on anything. How to start what are good start off cars. Do I need the high/low settings. Diffs. What cars have Diffs. Anything that will help me on my way.

Many thanks
Carl

Same advice as I've given lots of people - go along to a local club, get involved and get to know the ropes (literally) and you'll see what you like and don't like and go from there.

rushing out and buying a car may not be the best move and a local club may be a source of ready sorted toys for you to buy anyway.

^^^ wot he said ^^^

You'll always find that there are as many opinions as there are people in a room! However, you'll find that we all still ask questions no matter how long we've been doing it and we all are still learning (and dreaming of the next modification) all the time. Become involved in a club, start asking questions and pretty soon you'll make your own mind up the best way for you is as no one way is the right way.

Then my son, you'll be the one answering the questions for the next new member before you know it - remember we all started somewhere ourselves (although sometimes people do forget that).

But welcome to the off road brigade and above all, have fun.

See you around in here!

I was the same as you, reluctantly went offroading with my wife's friends husband and got the bug. I only wanted a toy not a car for daily driving so bought an sj off eBay and towed it straight to the local play site Smile I was driving half a day getting stuck before someone showed me how to put it in 4wd Smile

The thing I learnt was that the more capable the truck the bigger things you have to do to get the same fun. The car you chose is very much down to what you need to personally get out of it so have a think what you need and have a look at what others have.
