SWMBO reported that her computer would not start up so after a bit of clever detective work on my part such as checking it was plugged into the mains socket etc. I determined the problem was a lack of electrical power flowing through the on switch.
Can it be fixed or must she get a new one, she asked. So mustering all my manly superior electrical and mechanical knowledge I pressed the On Button and with a click this caused electricity to flow through the switch and the computer sprang into life. Problem solved - well until next time.
Still waiting for my reward.
Merry Christmas

You made it look to easy to expect a reward. Should have tried a few different wall sockets / leads, checked the main fuse board in house, grabbed some basic tools and pulled the covers off the computer and then made up how you 'fixed it'.
Hey presto you get dinner bought down the pub because of your hard work and the fact that you saved money over getting an IT man in...
