Evening guys been a while!

I recently bought another vit after about 3/4 years of not having one.

My last one I lifted 2" using a full kit from Dave @ bits4vits, very good kit and wouldn't slate it in the slightest but I wish I would of gone 3".

My new vit I'm lifting using mk1 focus estate rear springs all round, it gives you a 3" lift all round and are quite similer to the vitara springs as far as rebound etc are concerned far as I've researched.

I'm.just stuck on all the other hardware now.

My last shocks were procomp and were stiff on the rear so I was considering Astra shocks but oil bilstien ones?

Also up front will 2.5 strut spacers be ok.for a 3" lift? Or should I consider different shocks all together

Diff droppers I can only find 1" ones is that enough?

Also any other advice on helm spacers etc will be good.

I'm trying to build this one up as well as possible while its sat in the garage!

Thanks in advance!!

I've heard of using Focus springs on the back, but not all round. Merc springs work on the front, need a coil or two cutting off though.
I have Astra shocks on my Calmini kitted Vit, and they're standard oil ones.
Calmini diff drop rackets are longer, and I know people who've ordered from them and said they were fine to deal with.
My heim spacer came from VitMods (I bought the Calmini second hand and the heim was borked).

Cheers for the reply mate

I used merc springs years ago and were too stiff in my opinion, I thought myself that the focus springs have only been used on the rear but apparently there good on the front especially if your running a winch & bumper, rover 600 springs were suggested for.the rear along with the focus up front but on the flipside rovers are too soft,. I'll look into getting in touch with calmini too. Thanks again mate

I have a set of Merc springs ready to go on, hopefully with the extra weight of the diesel engine in mine they'll be ok. Only cost a few quid, so not a massive loss if they're not suitable.
My local motor factors list heavy duty rear springs for a Focus designed for towing or something. Might be useful if you're carrying a lot of weight.

Yeah I think its luck of the draw with merc springs, there's s lot of opinions that work depending on your set up, I had w202 diesel ones on my old one and was stiff as hell but maybe if I ran them on my current one (with the weight of the winch bumper and winch) they'll probably do fine!

Interesting! I'll have to look in to this a bit more as my current springs are a bit old and in need of replacing! I was going to go for vit mods 3 inch springs but if the focus springs would be cheaper I may look at them. Does anyone know if you'd gain the same height on the LWB?

there is a few variations on the merc springs most of which are to stiff I had at least 3 sets all new before I found the correct ones never cut any coils off them that said I did have modded wishbones the springs sat lower and it eliminated spring bow also ran rover rear springs on the rear with 1" spacers truck sat nice and even.

focus estate rear springs imo will be to soft on the front with the wishbone set up, I use them on the front with my solid axle set up and VW diesel engine and there still a little soft.

I always thought the focus estates were good on the front of vits? A mate of mine had them on his (or so the lad he bought it from said) I was considering merc 190e off a 1990 2.0 8v petrol but cant find much information on running them to have a even 3" lift on the front, do they need coils cutting off to achieve 3" or leave them as they are??

I remember years ago there was a really good post up on here or SS but I cant find it for the life of me!!!
