Hi. Trying to find out if you were ever able to purchase the 90 in cab chassis variant from factory? Cant find any proof! I remember seeing a page of all the different body styles of series land rovers you could order.
Thanks

Good question. I had a couple of poster with all the body variants of the Series IIa and III which included the cab and chassis variant.
Thinking about it, I'm sure that variant would have been available through the LR Special Vehicles division on request.

The local western power depot to us has loads on brand new un-used 110 chassis cabs, they get fitted with a cherry picker in house, but i guess when LR decided to stop production they brought loads to stockpile. they also all came fitted with BF Goodridge M/T's

thanks guys, Ideally need proof that it occurred to compete in a particular class of competition. Ie a sales brochure or something saying it was available. Will keep searching. Would like to set the 90 up as a tray back.

thanks nightbar, its a given you can still get the 110 in cab chassis, but the 90 is very limited. My 90 is late 1980s so was hoping back then there were more options as the current day rules limit what you could do back in the day

Dixon Bate the tow bar people used to offer series Land Rover 88's with a 5th wheel coupling so i guess they either left the factory as a Chassis cab or Dixon Bate would remove the rear body and sell/give them back to the factory. As a follow up to that a company in the UK called Racetech have/had Defender 90's with 5th wheels fitted to enable them to transport the starting gates for horse racing, whether they were built by the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) or supplied as a chassis cab would be a question to ask Land Rover.I have seen a couple of Racetech's 90's one had the reg number R754 SJB the other was a TD5 reg number LT51 ZRC.
I have sent Racetech an e-mail but don't expect anything back till Monday
