|
|
|
I am about to convert our sj over and would like some advice first.
As far as im aware...
The jimny system seems a straight fit with no modding at all?
Vit system needs a adapter making to fit?
And are there any alternatives? Our steering box is completely knackered /fully adjusted and the car is our daily as of soon so i need it sorted ASAP.
Could anyone also tell me if fitting a 1.6 vit radiator will affect the conversion?
Any input would be very appreciated.
Thanks
Mick

I did mine when I fitted a vitara engine so the pump etc was an easy fit. The steering box needed a wedge making and the radiator needed some of the bracket cutting away. I can't remember what the rad was, I think it was the original 410 unit.
Yellow is SJ box black is vit box
Drawings for adaptor plate, from memory it was about 40mm across the back.
Wedge welded up
Fitted
Cut away to make the rad fit
Modified rad mount

another option that fits very well is vauxhall carlton. even the pipes are about right too.
needs a flat plate adaptor for the box and a pump mount fabbing.
