Hi,
For what it's worth, I've just bought a new MK7 and looked into getting it chipped. From what I've been told it's better to get the engine itself re-mapped at a specialist with the rolling road/dyno, that way it's individual to your car and not a generic map. Some companies will happily remap the car back to standard for free/small fee, if you have to take it into a Toyota dealer for any Warranty issues. So no trace left of the mapping. Cost about the same as a decent chip as well, about £400-500.
I wouldn't want to scrimp on the engine.
Hope this helps?
