I know how everyone on here hates the use of A frames and dollies but what about this?

Hope that driver gets the book thrown at him. That driver is unsafe to be on a public road!

Apart from dangerous condition try unsafe load. A single ratchet strap going over a sharp edge without edge protection is a disaster waiting to happen.

Try maximum length of trailer as 7 metres.

Try no lights.

I wonder what the insurance company would say about towing an illegal trailer in a dangerous condition? Insurance void?

A car being towed on the UK road has to be road legal, i.e. tax, MOT, insured and any driver/steerer in car being towed needs appropriate driving licence. OK that combination being towed was on an A frame so no one steering it.

Guys,

That's a bad picture. It is on an a-frame. The blue Passat is doing the towing.

Not joking.

Hi,

If the driver had only Cat.B licence, he is limited to 3500kg. Any heavier, and he does not have a licence, so no insurance.

If he does have a licence to drive that weight, then his insurers will find it difficult to refuse a THIRD PARTY claim ... but they can sue him to recover their losses. Google RTA 1988, check Para 148.

It would not be worth discussing "Own Damage", might annoy somebody.

Dangerous? Would it be dangerous if pulled by a team of 22 Clydedales?

A towing dolly is limited to 20mph, or 40mph on motorway. Why would anyone want one?
