Hi
I have a 2002 TD Grand Vitara
I noticed if I sat on the clutch on hill or at the lights that it would slip a bit and have the usual stink you expect from a possible expiring clutch . It only happened 3, possibly 4 times. If I towed my twin axle box trailer or gave it any beans on the hills (I live in Devon so there are a few) I never had any problem. I took it in to a garage for its MOT and whilst it was there I asked them to replace the clutch as I thought it would only be a matter of time before it gave up.
I called the other week for progress and they said they'd fitted the new one but there was a fault so they would fit another.
I called again and now they say its my gearbox that needs replacing!!??
Sounds like they are taking the P but could this be a problem they suffer with????
As the gearbox had no known faults and also where do I go from here as they still have the car in bits. Many thanks

id call BS on the garage, don't understand how a gearbox could 'slip' and definitely not how it could make a smell. its mechanical cogs and gears engaging and disengaging..?
