Wheels need some attention... not sure whether or not to DIY it or get it done professionally. Got quoted £85 a corner at a local place this morning excl vat... seems like a lot to me considering the price of new wheels. Was a quote for stripping down + cleaning surface and powder coating as I understand it.
Any advice?
Any suggestions on where to take in the South Gloucestershire / Bristol area?
Existing finish is chrome (whats left) - any reason that might hike the price up? (happy to go to a paint finish)

Yeah I thought it sounded like a lot... but wasn't sure where the average price should be.
Spent some time dithering about this last night and looking up the costs of spray cans of paint etc. I'm debating a DIY paint job. I reckon sand paper, primers, paint, laquer for all four will come in at less than £50 for all four wheels. Struggling with the cost of £200+ when I could get four new wheels for similar money.
If I go DIY then it'll come down to how well the paint sticks and how badly they chip... if it doesn't hold / gets chipped I'll know got to fork out the cash for the pros to do it right - but I guess I'll know for sure then.

Having chrome would certainly in my eyes increase the price due to having to either remove the chrome or tamp in down enough for the paint to hold.

My limited experience with the process for the wheels I had done, Was I think,
shot blasted, zinc etched, powder coat and baked. I had mine done at a welding fabricators who make all sorts of outside equipment.
