Hi guys I want one of these.
http://www.fourwd.org.uk/page3.html
Then once I've got it on the road I want to fit an xud lump in it to make the right noise and give it a bit more torque to cope with the bigger wheels. Please feel free to advise, mock or make recommendations.
Many thanks
Matt

I must admit I like the look of the Disco conversion.
Had I'd known about it several years ago I would have been tempted to convert my rusty old Disco, rather than selling it for spares.
I did look at another pick up conversion kit but decided against it.

Hmm... I kinda like that. Would really like a look at the instruction manual to see what's involved in a bit more detail... Been looking for a way to refresh my vit.

It says it has a one piece flip front end. so the rams would be for that.

Absolutely its a one piece clamshell front end that tilts forward on gas struts. I'm gonna order the manual and have a browse before getting the kit home for serious play time. I could probably post a few pics if people want to see them.

Yeah I'd be interested if you can. Curious how many of my existing mods would conflict with it.
I think they gloss over the 33" tyre gearing situation a bit on the website though - but then if your going diesel wonder how 31" tyres with a 3" calmini susp would look...

You mean like the old Triumph Herald which didn't have gas struts but we were stronger then building up our arm muscles with the non-powered steering 😃

Existing mods conflict with the space frame.
This was supposed to be a 2" lift on my ncf blitz
A little bit high for 2" throwing the A frame
I wont show the front cvs or the rear prop shaft till later.
The body and the front are very seperate entity's, dont have dreams of winches and bull bars.
The body on the new issue seems to be the same as the blitz, the front is different.
I dont want to p on your parade but a few peaple have done the blitz conversion, it is worth very careful consideration.

I think they look quite different.
Suspension can be tweaked to work I'm sure. The one in the pics has a bull bar and as the winch bumper goes on the chassis...I'm sure it can be done...maybe with a well tucked away low down one like dave a bits4vits did.

I don't have any pictures currently but I'm going to the classic kit and retro action day at castle coombe on the 20th of June where I'm meeting Simeon Scruton with his Arctic and Sahara so will try and post some then.

Is that the guy who took over ncf?
I'm only in yate so that's round the corner, I'd ask to come along but I'm moving house that weekend. I've already had a bad reaction when I asked if I could go to the parts show at three counties on the Sunday. I figured ive got a van rented it's an ideal time to go...but nooo. Are you local then?

I looked at the sahara at a kit car show, it did look nice, the only thing I didn't like was there was a random bit of chequer plate stuck out the back to cover the excess chassis that the body doesn't cover. I'm told if you have a spare wheel at the back it covers it but if you were doing it for offroading you ideally would want to cut it off... but then that brings us around to the time served IVA arguements...

Yes he bought and built a Sahara and liked it so much he bought the company (sounds like an old TV ad). I am fairly local I'm down in south Petherton near yeovil. Coincidentally we recently bought a car from Yate you have a very big tesco.

I think the problem with the kit car conversations is that generally the people who build them go for look and not performance.
I say this from an almost bitter experience, the guy who built mine was a road car enthusiast. It looked the part but dosnt cut the mustard. I have the weather protection of a motorcycle and the off road ability of a series I landrover.
Needs a lot of tweeking and thats the expensive bit.

Cheers - I found some information in the end by googling him. You didn't buy the car from Tesco did you? Yeah there's surprising amount of shops in Yate... there's a pick of Waitrose, Morrisons, Lidl and the massive Tescos without having to venture any further than up the road to Chipping Sodbury. They're even building a cinema right next to the tescos now!
I would invite you in for a cuppa seeing as your sort of passing by but that weekend is going to be manic with the house move. Maybe you'll have to ask him if he can do a 2fer1?

If we were to order at the same time we could certainly save money by collecting them at the same time on one truck lol.

Are you still planning on going to the show and having a look?
If I understand right this kit leaves the bulk head and some amount of the floor as standard saving shed load of hassle... but the kit bolts to the body mounts from the description... any idea how that works? I'd assume the remaining bits of the body is trying to use some of those mounts too.
Keep thinking about what work I've done would get "undone" by this kit. List is quite long... bumpers (+winch), snorkel, air intake, batteries, body lift... essentially I think the calmini suspension with some reduced springs is all that I might get away with leaving on there (and steel front axle housing). Having said all that my biggest concern is the exhaust. I've had a stainless system put on and in the process got them to lift it a bit so it didn't hang below the chassis. Without a body lift this might be a bit touch and go... I think this kit leaves the standard vit floor? I wonder how well this kit would react to a minor body lift... might save shortening things that have already been extended...
Dilemma is, is it worth dismantling all those bits for the sake of the kit - or does it make sense to acquire a new donor.
Looking forward to some pics...

Well I've seen it, sat in it and I like it I also talked swmbo into having a sit in it. So I shall be placing my order on Monday he has said that it will probably be three months as he has some orders ahead of me and he is doing this along side a full time job. I hate to think how many hours this guy works.
P.s. I have picked up my vitara donor car this afternoon so best get the grinder out.

So I'm all moved! Worked like crazy on the Friday to get everything shifted and started moving cars across at about 11.30 at night! Anyways got it all done.
So I managed to get to the show in early to mid afternoon on the Saturday after I think you'd been to the stand already. Must have just missed you.
Might be worth holding off on slicing your vit too much in case he makes any revisions before building yours.
Yeah I think it looks as good in real life as those pictures. Gotta say I liked the land rover kit he had there too.
I'm dithering about placing an order for a few reasons. Main one is I'm not sure I can wait that long. I'm taking my vit to some trials late July. If I enjoy it I'm debating building my own body. The deposit money would get me a decent amount of steel to start.
Anyways i'll keep dithering until late July I think. Got the order form on my noticeboard

I'm glad your move went well. I'm quite reasured that he'll get mine right as he's building three before mine(practise makes perfect ) the chopping of the but has begun as I found some rot in the back of the floor pans right in the bit you need to keep so I'm doing a sort of skin graft thing where I cut it from one area to repair another I'll see if I can get some photo's on the way.

Hah - maybe that's why I'm holding off then ... the fourth will be even perfect...er.... right? I'm currently getting distracted by house related jobs - but staring at the vit trying to decide what bits I'm going to cut off...
Got them photos yet?
