I've just bought a vitara and picking it up next month Smile

However I've been out the off roading scene for a few years so can someone please refresh my brain!

It's got 31 inch tyres but doesn't look particularly big under the sills /skid plate . I know on my old one when it had 31s It looked huge from the sides as sills were miles off the ground, this one just doesn't seem as high.

I believe it has a 3 inch springs but standard shocks / struts I think but it's 10+ years old so if I was to put a full new suspension lift does this raise the likes of sills, bumpers, skid plates, basically the whole car ?

Also the winch bumper has been welded and bolted to the chassis before the bodylift was done so there's a gap between the body and bumper. I've been told it ain't coming off! What's the best way to cover this gap? Does the winch bumper move up along with the body with the suspension lift aswell?

Sorry for silly question I just can't quite remember what the suspension lift actually raises.

Thanks

The suspension lift raises everything except the axles. If you have stock struts then you should also have strut spacers, a rear heim joint spacer and, preferably, diff drop brackets.

Thanks for the reply.

It's at my mates garage until next month so not quite sure what it's got and not.

Been on google and forums all night so my plan is!

Calmini front arms

Calmini springs 3" - as they will for in arms - I will put spring spacer from B4V to correct any sagging

http://www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/vitara-/-x90/su...x4/prod_1375.html - do I need 1.5" strut spacers?

http://www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/vitara-/-x90/su...ers/prod_591.html - or sum other make that's better?

Yup got the diff brackets on order!

What does the heim spacer do? Where can I get that?

If you have the Calmini kit then the spacers are supplied with it. The front arms are not available seperately.

Been to have another look today.

It's only got 4 calmini springs and the front 2 calmini arms.

I'm needing

X2 struts - 3" lift
X2 shocks - 3" lift

Diff drop brackets ? - any ideas
Rear heim spacer? - once again any ideas?

I've just bought a heim spacer forom Vitmods, cost me £28 delivered, also bought some mk2 Astra rear shock this afternoon, cost me about £21 including the VAT and work perfectly with a 3" lift. Ideally you'll want to extend your bumpstops so the longer shocks don't bottom out. Dave at Bits4Vits can do you them. Vitmods can do you some diffdrop brackets as well. Do you use Facebook, I contacted him through there and he replied straight away.
Hope that helps.
