The ECU on my disco appears to be draining my battery so much that I need to isolate it when the car's not in use.
The car is used mainly for laning and is not a daily driver.

As I see it my options are:
1. Replace the ECU but I hear this can be problematic and requires matched ECU and immobiliser
2. Use an isolator, but this would (sensibly) need to be located under the bonnet. Not entirely practical.
3. Fit a Battery Brain, which would allow the convenience of being (hidden) switched from inside the car.

I don't like bodges and this approach of fixing the symptom but not fixing the root cause is very unlike me. So I welcome opinions on the reality of swapping out the ECU too.

Thoughts please.

Wasn't aware of battery brain so had a look. It seems a bit pricy for what it does.

We use these http://www.alfatronix.eu/1575-powertector---ful...now-available.php They are a fraction of the price and work very well

If this is for a TD5 then you can get an NNN ecu with a AS10 immobiliser bypass from various places.

Would it not be cheaper to get a solar trickle charger or a CTEK charger?

It's for my '95 3.9 V8 Disco, which is normally parked in total shade - I do want to be able to leave it for a little while whilst away from home too, so would favour avoiding a reliance on mains electricity. Obviously this could be both a CTEK and a solar charger.

Thanks for that link Ian - Looks pretty interesting.
