I had my mind set on General Grabber ATs but the tyre place recommends cooper at3.

From what I can see;

Bridgestone HT (current tyre)
Fuel Efficiency E; Wet grip C; Nose 3 74dB

General grabber AT
Fuel Efficiency F; Wet grip E; Nose 3 72dB

Cooper AT3
Fuel Efficiency E; Wet grip B; Nose 2 73dB

It's mostly road use so I don't want something thats less safe on the motorway or noisy, the Bridgestones have only left me stuck once with a few occasions of looking to the sky and saying please keep going!

Any real world comparisons?

Now your just all trying to confuse me!

All the ones suggested are rated lower than the coopers - assuming the letters are meaningful? dB are logarithmic so a range from 72 - 75 is huge!

Being a bit tarty I love the look of the General Grabber AT but the better road manors of the Cooper is swaying me that way. Although they haven't got as good a writeup offroad I think they would be better than the Bridgestones I have now which have done the job ok so would probably be better suited to me that a more offroad biased tyre?

...Anyone know anything about the maxxis 771?

Went for the AT3 in the end. £99 ea fitted. Slightly noisier than the Bridgestones on the motorway but I can't say I really notice it even after 3 hours of driving. They have more grip than the worn out bridgestones but are a bit spongier going into corners etc. You don't feel quite as connected. I guess that's to be expected as I'm sure it will be softer to improve it's offroad / winter performance. Only real disadvantage I can find is they have cost me about 3mpg Shocked

Not really your ears are logarithmic too.
