Hi,

Not sure if I can ask this here, but don't know who else to ask.

Our house move is imminent. New house has a single telerphone point in the hall, and no TV aerial.

We have been offered a Telephone/broadband/TV package ... but have no idea how it works. ???

Thinks No.1. Plug router into phone point, Phone, PC, and TV pick up signal using some sort of magic.

Thinks No.2. Plug router into phone point, use PC by Wi-Fi, drape wires around house for TV.

Er ... we would like two TVs, maybe three. Would we be better using an aerial forthe extra sets? I never had this problem with my chrystal set.

Whos the deal with ?
TV Package could be via dish or via a streaming service, i.e films etc are delivered via the broadband connection.

You would have a router plugged into the BT master / Virgin socket, then either using Wifi or CAT5 cable you could connect your PC/Laptop/mobile device up.

The box that connects to your TV (to allow you to view the streamed TV content) again could be wired / Wifi and connected to your TV via a cable

The fun would be getting it to the other TVs around the house eg, sky multiroom has a seperate box for each TV and a feed from the dish to each box.

Hi Both,

Thanks for replies.

We have been with AOL for coming up for 15 years, and despite what everybody says, we are as happy as most otherpeople seem to be with their ISPs. We areused to AOL, and everybody knows our email address. AOL are now TalkTalk.

We currently pay TT about £28 per month, including line rental, for unlimited broadband, and free UK phone calls.

This can be transferred to our new address, just by making a phone call.

If we want to include TV, it will cost us an extra £10 per month, approx, but the free phone calls seem to be cut to evenings/weekends only. Maybe that can be negotiated back up again. We have little interest in the extra services they offer.

If the TV could be Wi-Fi, it might be worth it, but if they want to install a cats-cradle of cables, we might just as well have an aerial instead.

I was about to suggest just getting an aerial installed. Once off £50-£100.

It all depends how much and what type of television you watch I suppose.

There is quite a bit on freeview which probs covers most peoples requirements. If a satellite/broadband package gives you more of the channels you would want, then perhaps that is the way to go.

I think a one of hit for an aerial to a digital television sounds like a good plan especially as if it's an unlimited broadband interweb thingy then you'll have the benefit of catch up on that for most of the normal channels.

So, the questions becomes, what do I want to watch? Then perhaps that will tease out what you would need to procure.
