Dear All
I have a Shogun MK1. It presently has BFG winter Slalom tyres. The truck is only used on the weekend and during the winter when the roads are hectic.
I have started 4x4 off roading once a month. The last two occassions, I have popped a tyre, both times on the sidewall (These tyres have cost me over £100 each)
I am thinking of getting BFG all terrain (235 85 16). Can these tyres handle off road especially on rocky surfaces. I want tough sidewall protection.

BFG AT come with Tri Gard 3 ply polyester sidewall some of the strongest sidewalls you get, so can't see a problem BUT rock can get through any sidewall so perhaps you want to change how you attack them,. not unless you have very deep pockets.
If you had asked before you went offroading would the Winter Slalom be ok i would have said no due to it's construction and how it differs from BFG AT and MT products especially in the sidewalls.
