Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that more and more drivers are jumping red lights?

Yep.
There used to be a set of lights in Leicester near to where I used to live which due to faully programming both lights would be amber at the same time.
So a car travelling towards the lights showing green would carry on when they changed to amber, whilst at the same time a car approaching the set showing red would accelerate when they changed to red/amber... There used to be one accident and numerous near-misses per week.

Nightbar, you are obviously behind the times and have not read the latest edition of the highway code!

Red lights are now optional

Traffic island bollards with a keep left arrow are now permitted places for overtaking by ignoring the arrow.

Traffic heavy? Then it is permitted to use the VIP lane, however it is compulsory to use your horn to get these silly pedestrians out of the way. The local council must really do something about these silly 4" high steps to gain the VIP lane.

Seems to be regional, when moved to Sheffield I had people getting annoyeed with me for stopping as it seems the rule there is 3 cars can go through on red, the police can go through on red any time so long as they put the blue light on just before the traffic lights and off again immediately after. When I moved away from Sheffield I got annoyed when, as the third car after the lights went red, I didn't get through Laughing

In Edinburgh red lights mean only 2 more cars but green means "that's a pretty shade of green, now where's my handbrake"

In Glasgow, when the first electrons are starting to excite the filament of the red/amber light you're looking for 2nd gear already. Amber means try to cause the guy behind to crash into you.

I must be Brendan!
When I lived in Naples lights were optional as was every other road traffic rule but you got used to it. I may even have reversed down a motorway after missing a junction...

... is just recently now back in the uk that things were seeming to be a teeny bit Neapolitan (but without the style and chaos though) Cool

Ignore the road works - that was just the state of it Cool

The content has to be with the flow of the thread or interesting, then it's fine Smile

Here in Staffordshire I haven't seen any light jumping. But there are cameras on some lights down Wolverhampton way, so it is generally avoided around here.

We've got roundabouts here in Telford, which are supposed to be simpler. except for f+*+*+* simpletons who don't understand 'give way to vehicles on the right'. Rolling Eyes They would probably be confused by traffic lights......

Don't get me started on 'drivers' that come down slip roads on to a 60mph road at 80mph and expect the trucks doing 50mph to suddenly swerve right into the lane of traffic doing 70mph. Rolling Eyes

I had that the other day, hard shoulder coned off, motorway down to 50, I was in the inside lane dong 50 behind another truck, nothing behind be for quite some distance, cars in the middle lane at the side of me doing 50, car comes down the slip road from a long way behind me and instead of just slowing down and sitting behind me and pulling onto the motorway in the huge gap decided to undertake me on the slip road even though there was clearly nowhere to go. I lost him in the blind spot at the side of the cab but was expecting him to squeeze infront of me as they do. Next thing I knew cones were flying and he ended up in the hard shoulder behind the cones. No idea how he got out of there into 50mph traffic but I didn't see him again Confused

I find it's usually a complete lack in ability to look past the end of the bonnet, or behind them, or to the side. Infact anything beyond the text message screen seems a big ask in a lot of cases. Maybe we should have cameras on the car beamed to the mobile?
