|
|
|
I use my D1 for greenlaning and am keeping my 110 tidy and any mods reversible, so no holes in the roof etc as yet.
Living in mid Essex, phone signal isn't usually a problem in the event of an emergency. But I do want to communicate with others when laning. Most round here use CB rather than PMR, so I want something that I can use on club trips, but that I can easily share between the two vehicles.
I'm thinking handheld CB. Am I wrong?
Thanks,
Buddha

Absolute pish.......In standard form. You ant my midland one.
However, if you hook it up to 12v power and also an external aerial then it's perfect. But if you do that, you may as well use a standard one from your cubby box and just not bolt it in

I found my handheld not much cop in the motor maybe attaching to an external arial may have helped but obviously it was good for guiding people through a dodgy bit or strolling up a lane on a recce so I still use it.Like you I have an aversion to drilling holes in my motor though the outside is covered in dents and gouges so have my in cab cb screwed into an aftermarket cubby box.

You could always use a gutter mount aerial if you don't want to drill holes

ideal when out spotting/winching with a mate in the cab
otherwise you need an external aerial - 3 or 4 feet with mag mount, and battery eliminator accessory for the hand held

They are great. Decent distance if you are line of sight, and very handy for spotting.

Thanks all - think I may look at gutter mounts for each car and the Midland 42 to swap between them.
