|

|
The vehicle is a 1996 Defender 90 300 TDi County Station Wagon. I am now tackling a number of the smaller jobs on my vehicle following a new chassis etc - this simple one is driving me mad!
The drivers side door had no lower door seal fitted (runs along the bottom of the door inner face) so I bought one from a reputable 4x4 specialist in my area - they advised that the purchased item was correct.
This is fitted but despite adjusting the door catch many times I am unable to "tune out" the fact that the door no longer closes properly - this is especially obvious in the bottom rearmost corner of the door which sticks out to my great annoyance.
The passenger door seal (which is what I should have looked at first) is of a completely different design to what I bought. The purchased one is basically a flat rubber strip with a tubular section molded to it - the passenger seal is just like a flat non-tubular surface.
Can anyone throw any light on what I need to order - as far as I know the doors are original to the vehicle.
Thanks

Dealers do make mistakes just like anyone else.
Now you know what the profile of the passenger door is like go back and ask to see the Land Rover Parts Catalogue which will show the part along with the part number alongside.
If you still have the original packaging from the one you bought compare the part numbers and see if they are different.
If the part number is correct but the profile is obviously different from the passenger door then a search is required to find out if door seals changed over the years

Also bear in mind that the door may never fitted properly!
I had a TD5 90 where the bottom seals never fitted 100%. I treated them as drainage for the water leaking in through the sunroof
