|
|
|
Now that I'm sort of used to Android after getting my Nexus last year I decided to move from the Blackberry to an Android based phone and recently upgraded to a Samsung S4 mini.
However I've just discovered a problem and can't find a solution.
From time to time I need to send an SMS message to my NI 4X4 Response Network volunteers. There are currently about 60 members and I have them all in a group in the contacts. Problem is the phone only allows me send to a maximuum of 20 contacts at one time. Anybody know how to up this to, say, 100 in one go or a way round this?

i woudl suggest getting an HTC, no limit.. however i think the only solution for now (until i find a better one) would be simply to stick them in more than one group (response1, 2 3 etc)
i wil have a dig tho.

Had thought of doing this but I would still have to send several messages and time is of the essence.
For example, we were mobilised last night to deliver sandbags to the vunerable and elderly in an area at severe risk of flooding. I sent the first batch of 20 and whilsts I was trying to send the next two batches volunteers were responding by phone which was a F-up!

If you put the respondents into groups, can you then send to more than one group at a time. Or can you have:
20 respondents=Group A
20 respondents=Group B
20 respondents=Group C
Group A & Group B & Group C = Master Group 1

Sadly no - it's 20 recipients per message, no matter how the groups are configured.

Use an app like 'hangout' instead of the default.

Tried that and doesn't seem to do what I want, although that may just be me!

Must be you. Default does indeed have a limit but hangout should be able to send to all of your contact list.
However, my entire knowledge on this is based on a 5 min google search. I've never even held an android phone before

Yes had seen those but, as Don suggests, way beyond my capabilities as I'm actually a drummer!
