there it is realy. its a 20tone jack, to give you an idea it take 10 tone to bend 12" of 3mm steel on a 25mm bottom tool, so 20 ton should be fine for me. got a few more jobs i want to do, make some telescopic guides to stop the bottom tool base from rotating, and to make a stand for it that will incorporate a linkage going down from the jack to a foot pedal, so i can have both hands free, which is why i didnt bother painting the current jack linkage.
its been an interesting project, pleased how its turned out,im sure i will use it a lot

Very nice work. I have a standard floor standing hydraulic press which I thought I might "bodge" some simple folding tooling for. I can't find an affordable set of blade/v blocks. Where did you obtain yours from please?

Hi Blue dragon, got mine from ebay, got 2 top and 2 bottom tools a few years ago,for £75 and just had them sat in garage waiting for me to do something with them, and the other larger multi tool off ebay a few weeks ago again for around £70,affordable tooling doesnt come up to often.
did a few more test bends this morning....400mm x 3mm steel on 32mm v...
6mm steel on 50mm v...
and 1.6 ally on 12mm v...

until i make the telescopic guides mentioned above, i just line it up by hand, which isnt hard to do,once you give it a couple of pumps on the jack handle youve got upto 20 tons to nip it in place so it doesnt move!
making the guides is something that i will get done though,as it will be easier. i also want to make an adjustable back stop so i can do repeat folds so i can do batches more efficiently.

Very impressive. When I wanted to bend some 4mm checkered aluminium for a bash plate I had to use some blocks of wood and jump up and down on it
