My 12 year old daughter has just had an 'experience' with a certain online photo printing company and here is a lesson for all of us.
She placed an order for 2 calendars (of her own design) as presents from friends and Vistaprint automatically added return labels and a couple of other things taking her order from about £12 to over £32. She did not realise the mistake until the payment had been processed at which point she cancelled the order and placed a new one, more carefully, assuming that the first payment would be refunded but it was not. It seems she was given a 'merchandise credit' and the correct order deducted from that.
I called them this morning to be told that she just had to use the remaining credit and that would be fine and once I informed them that under the Distance Selling Regulations a customer has the right to cancel/return an order for any reason within 7 days of receipt (assuming the goods are returned in saleable condition) and that despite this being a custom order it was cancelled within 2 minutes there should have been no problem refunding her bank card. The chap on the phone was pleasant enough and did not argue too much but told me it would take 2 weeks to arrange a refund!
I suggest that you take extreme care about dodgy business practices especially at this time of year!

I order from Vistaprint regularly and, IMO, the "extras" are clearly visible although I'm a 50 year old man and not a teenage girl!

I can accept that a 12 year old is likely to make mistakes dong this sort of thing but to automatically give merchandise credit rather than a refund is sharp practice and then to take 2 weeks to issue a refund is a poor do!

To be fair they, Vistprint, did not argue about refunding, it's just going to take too long IMO.
It also has to be a learning experience for aforesaid 12 year old

Can I have 1000 customer's money for two extra weeks?
Its just a scam to not refund you as a few people will accept the credit and forget so they win.
