I just discovered that, during the last 8 months, a leaking hypoid gear oil bottle has drip-fed one of my four-season all leather Meindl mountain boots . About a quarter of a pint of oil has totally impregnated the entire boot. And it stinks.
They're about 20 years old, it took me 10 years and a resole to break them in and right now they are - were - perfect...
I need ideas how to extract the oil. Any suggestions?
I hate the thought of having to bin them...

You could join a ramblers group in the hope that they will leave and stick to country parks in future to avoid the smell.

provided it wont damage the leather, you can try soaking it in something like muckoff, or similar degreaser, might work

There's a wide range of socks that will keep your feet/foot clean from the oil. Rubber and latex socks on the net range from industrial to perv
I can only think to soak it in vegetable oil to draw out the gear oil? Anything alcohol or detergent will mean the natural oils need replacing in the leather. I think I'd wash them out as best I could, store them full of news paper when not in use and just wear thick woolly socks.

Cat litter granules - of course! I'll try that.
