Hi all. Been given a vitara by my dad that's he has owned for about 10 years. Many a while ago the thermostat failed open so the truck never got off the bottom of the temp gauge, to combat the high idle because of this he adjusted the idle screw, and happily used it daily. Now I have it, I have found it to be ticking over quite rough, and seems to stay there until above about 2k revs even in gear. I have replaced the thermostat and adjusted the idle so it goes to about 2k then gradually drops down to just below 1k but it's still rough. I have changed the dizzy cap, the rotor arm, the HT leads and the plugs and also timed it while at running temp to 4BTDC. Checked all the tappet clearences. Cam belt was replaced a few months ago. Once it's up and running happily cruises at 60 no problem but I can't find anything causing the roughness.

Any ideas :/?

Thank you Smile
