Getting fed up with this poxy car now driving home tonight and the lights flashed real bright blue and then died all the bulbs have blown in the car,
Called the rac and the man check alternator output for me 18volts
So it apears that the regulator has popped causing a massive electrical overload. Apart from the bulbs what other damage am I looking at here in terms of the electrical system, it starts and runs ok the drivers side indecator lights come on but don't flash and I have a high beam bulb lit on the dash without any lights on
I'm a wiring loser and have no idea but any help is most welcome
Cheers
Pete

I don't know quite what to say? You replace the alternator in one, for a unit that isn't doing too many volts. Then start working through the truck to see what's blown.
There's no reason to assume any wiring has been damaged, just stuff that is voltage intolerant, like modern flasher units. Although the main beam light is a puzzler? Could be a bad switch that got sent over the edge?

Wallet spanking time I guess?
I'd at least pull the wires off the back of the alternator to stop it charging and start changing duff light bulbs. Anything that the garage doesn't have to do saves labour cost

Yeah I guess I will get a new alt or regulator and bulbs tomoz I'm hoping I can just replace the regulator rather than the hole thing
My cuz has kindly said that he will scratch build me a new main harness if need but is going to take a look and see what if any damage had been done
Always come at the wrong time of year huh
