I use Fuchs Titan XTR 5-30w in the Landy and in the wifes Focus. I have 3l left in the tub from the last batch.
A mate works for a car spares chain and can get Carlube 5-30w for a cheaper price(which is fine) but, he suggested I just mix the Carlube oil with the remaining Fuchs oil and off we go.
I'm not sure about this as mixing oil from two differing manufactures doesn't get my vote, hence I have purchased a new drum of 20l Fuchs.
So peoples thoughts on mixing oil makes of the same 5-30w spec?

I mix engine oil brands all the time and have done for decades.
You can even mix different viscosity grades if you had to - it proportionally changes the resulting grade.
You can even mix different API grades if you really really had to - just make sure the lower API grade of the two is suitable for your engine.

Read the small print on the container. It should give the various vehicle manufacturers specifications that it meets. As a rule of thumb lubricants that are on the current market with the same viscousity spec. are generally the same and can be safely mixed - and quite often will come from the same refinery and sold on to various "labels". The only time you need to consider using a specific brand is if the vehicle is new and still under warranty and the vehicle manufacturer specifies, but not just recommends, a specific brand.
I've mixed and used different brands of the same spec. in many vehicles without any problem.

PS: Fuchs Titan from the Difflock shop is excellent and good value - just a pity that the Difflock shop appears to have died despite recent rumours that it may re-open. Adverts in the classifieds section please
