I have one of the older repraps, currently broken
The old reprap is a PITA to setup and get running, but seeing as all the development is done by people in their back bedroom you can't expect a plug and play product. The newer ones like that are much better, some have the software loaded on the machine and come ready configured so you just stick an SD card in with the *.stl part file, pick a profile and set it going.
I'd love to upgrade to something better but you can only do so much
