My P38 has failed its mot on 3 of the 4 swivel ball joints..
I have removed the wheel and the front axle looks like it has been dug out of the ground and replacing the ball joints is starting to look like a bit of a ordeal..
Having gone on ebay, there seems to be no shortage of S/H P38 front axles ranging from between 100-200quid, many of them seem to be from low mileage 4 and 4.6litre petrols.
This has me thinking, would it be cheaper and quicker to just change the front axle out?
What I would like to know is, are all the axles the same? I am half expecting to find a minefield of different ratios diffs fitted throughout the range.
I will also add, my rangey has covered 210k.... it's a P reg 2.5 auto

As far as i am aware the P38 share the same diff ratio which is 3.54.Where some vary from others is that early 2.5 and 4.0 didn't have ETC (electronic traction control). All i would say is that you will need to make sure that the axles you buy aren't suffering the same problem as you have now.
