Pipes shouldn't be painted on the inside as your coolant or anti-freeze/water mix will strip it off. Pipe internals shouldn't corrode if you use proper coolant.

The landrover painter had over sprayed the inside by 2inches on two of the pipes , anti freeze will lift normal paint . Steam , hot water will corrode steel , aluminum head , if it works I tell you in 5 years time

Replaced pipes ,with new , just to see ,shot blasted the v pipe into block inside , pin hole , outside looked ok rusty but solid , very thin wall due to bend . If you haven't changed it , change it .
