I know we have seen it often enough and there can be only one winner in the end,
the one that standard costs more than double new and has been evolving for over 60 years against the one that has evolved for almost as long untill it has stayed pretty unchanged for the past 15 years.
Simple and reliable & much the same price as when launched.

and totally misses the point .....
The 2 cars are both fantastic in their own sector but to simply compare them as off road toys is beyond facile and stupid. Just try towing; Jimny 1300kg Defender 3500kg.
They are not the same animal and as someone who has owned both (well, an SJ anyway) I would be delighted to have either. You may as well try to compare a mountain bike with a motocross bike, why not, they both go off road and have 2 wheels

I think that was what the video and commentary showed, comparing as 'Off Road Toys'. not as serious workhorses, tow barges or passenger carriers.
it was just a video and not a serious comparison, just the fun factor of a new Sub 13K part time AWD vehicle around a course and then the real 4x4.
Like the Panda vs Range Rover videos, just light hearted,
not meant to compare, a little passenger car that will possibly never go off road other than on tracks or poor road conditions vs a large passenger SUV AWD that might never leave the prepared piste either.
So maybe produced to provide some entertainment to watch & maybe just maybe to wind up those that spent the more money.
(Like why i posted it here to the knowledgeable & sophisticated audience.)
But they know anyway they own and drive 'The Best 4x4 by Far.'
Even if it never goes off road or tows but is a Status Symbol.
(we know yours is a working Defender though.)
