hay everyone not posted in a while and glad to be back. well i have practically been given a 98 freelander 1 xei s-wagon its got a couple of problems tho the three amigos are on it has a leaky rad and the leccy windows have stopped working.
im going to try and get it all fixd and keep it as the missis loves it and the body work and interior is mint.

done a bit of research on the amigos so i think il get a diag on it and see if any of the sensors are at falt and if not il be trying a fix i found on line on the svs or modulator.

leccy windows and rad are not a problem.

are these any good off road ? i wont be doing anything big just a bit of green leaning and taking my little family up north once or twice a year.

3 amigos:
Check the wiring to the HDC switch at the bottom of the gear stick first. Also check the brake light switch.
Windows will probably be broken lift cables.
Off road they can be very good, especially on All Terrain tyres but you need to read the route first to take into account the ground clearance.

If they have broken at the bottom of the lever they just need soldering back together.

Before you fit a lift fit some AT tyres and try it anyway. I ran mine for years with no lift and had no problems. It teaches you to read the ground and choose your route more carefully.

Good roof racks are getting like rocking horse droppings so you might struggle. There weren't many to start with.

Driving lights on a roof rack cause a lot of scatter off the bonnet and most who tried them in the FL Club took them off. Fit some decent bulbs in the standard lights and a set of driving lights at the front. If you have a pre-facelift you can mount a set in the top of the front bumper[/img]
If you have the later model it is a lot more difficult, and I gave up.

If the wires have broken at the bottom of the gearlever then all you need to do is solder them back on. Some people soldered an extended wire on and joined that to the broken ones.

Looking at the age of yours it probably isn't the brake light switch, but thet are very cheap from an LR dealer anyway.

Those were Hella 2000's and a bit too big so I sold them and fitted some Hella 5" ones instead. They were quite easy to fit.

The broken ring sounds very possible!

Don't know about the reset, I'm sorry, but if it has put up an error code, probably, but you should be able to find an indepedent to do it.

If your has got the removeable section in the middle of the grille you can take that out and just get your hand inside. I drilled a hole each side for the lights and mounted them using 2 big penny washers either side of the bumper. The washers need to be curved slightly.

Doubtful. There isn't much clearance with the suspension leg at the front so I'd stick with standard.
Plus some insurance companies are getting sniffy about non-standard sized tyres.

right bit of a update on the freelander. i have replaced the abs rings and the lights are still on but the sensor had a big scratch in the face of it.
i tried the abs on some grass i think it works i could feel juddering wen i stamped on the brakes and it didnt slide ?

think i will get diagnostics on it next and see what that brings up.
regards scott

Possible that the light needs turning off via diagnostics.

There are plenty of 215/65R16 AT's on the market you won't have any problem getting them.
