Hello, Niva newbie and I am going to look at a 1.7 Niva in the next couple of days. Can someone advise me on where to look for the most problem areas are for rust.
And anything else I should be looking for expensive to fix.
Thank you.
Tim.
Hi again
there is a guide here www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/ which will point you in the right direction for rusty bits, what makes what noise when it's wrong etc!

Baxter's site has neither a forum nor is it commericial site. It is, without doubt the best place to send Niva newbies.
This is simply another example of the Difflock moderators doing everything in their powers to alieniate the Lada community.
Personally, I've had enough of it and I shall be formally complaining to the management and recommending that the greater Lada community boycott Difflock. __________________________________ Move along. Nothing to see here.

I see no reason why the link has been removed, its no different than posting a link to the likes of youtube for example. Its just another excellent online resource for Niva owners where as youtube could be seen as the video equivalent of an online resource. Such as this video of Building Lada Niva Rock Crawler

i assume your link was one to baxters site simon? if so why was it removed? considering it doesnt even have a forum!
If it was a link to my site I'm assuming the mod has screwed up and mistaken the link to my site (which afaia doesn't breech any of the thou-shall-not-post-here rules) for a link to the best English speaking forum as they have similar URLs.
DeCoot, check out my site it has a ton of info you'll find, interesting, useful and inspiring (especially if you're a tinkerer). The address is www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter (mods, if you do actually have a problem with linking to my non-forum non-commercial site please PM me).
Oh and, it'd be worth googling something like "awesome UK based Lada forum" for a more active Lada forum. __________________________________ 1990 Niva 1600, 2" lift, LSD www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter -Baxter's Temple of Niva Site
If you do not have anything to occupy yourself - buy a Niva.
Thank you for the links chaps. I have been having a look through and it is all very interesting. I will look everywhere for rust just in case. I have found a 1.7 in what appears to be a rather sorry state but it could all be superficial? There are lots of Peugeot Partner 1.9 diesel and Citroen Berlingo
!.9 diesel most of which will be non turbo which is why I asked about the turbo before.
Some pictures for you or there would be if I could figure out how to upload.
Should be straight forward?
