Hey guys,

Im doing some repairs on my 95 niva and could use some help.
I need to replace the front upper spring mountings since they're eaten by rust.

The upper recoil mountings are non existent Smile

Silly thing but I am unable to put the recoils in the new mountings. Is there some method someone can recommend ??

Another question : does anyone know the brake hose 2 calliper nut torque value ?

I was thightening the nut (new copper washers) until it stops leaking, got up to ~60 nM and it still leaks. Im afraid to tighten it more not to destroy the calliper.

Thanks
Karol

Bump stop. Lot's of lube. IIRC there's a hole in the centre of the rubber you can press a socket extension into and then use that to bpush the rubber through.

Brake hose. Shouldn't need more than 20Nm. If you've had to tighten them that much then the banjo bolts are too long.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. After removing all the mud/rust I noticed that 4 lower bolts of the upper coil mountings are welded. Welds look tidy, like factory tidy. Is that correct ?

I guess I will need to weld them back after replacement (no lock nut will do) ?

PS:
Gadgetboy many thanks for all the usefull info you post online. I used your tutorial when putting in the electric fan Smile
