part time 4x4

Just went up some fields to see how the 4x4 was working and when I put it in 4h and 4low on the dash it said part time the full time never lit up, what's that about?

It's a 2.5 petrol
2000 w reg

does this mean i got some soft roader version? Shocked

that would be because you do not have fulltime 4x4 - only parttime Wink

Wrong engine.hope you aint tried that on the road?
They dont do a soft roader xj they all have what you got except the 4l which has fulltim.

I ran my x reg 4ltr in full time four wheel drive all of the time and it did light up a logo on the dash the other options P/T 4 H 2WD and 4WD L all lit up and worked fine.

So it's saying part time cos I put it into 4x4, and normally it's rear drive? So it's not one of those senser 4wheel drive things that decides when to switch on? So it will be ok off road then?

Not one of them moderen crap things tha dose it for you know its rear wheel drive untill off road then 4hi(loc)and 4lo both lock the center diff split 50/50 front to back and carry on working no matter how much water you get it in.
