I used to mark up maps for green laning, but this is no longer practical due to the changes caused by CROW Act 2000 and the NERC Act 2006. Now you can find the information on official web sites.

Derbyshire CC is the Highway Authority for the County, which includes most, but not all the Peak District. This is the URL to get onto their mapping web site http://Derbyshiremaps.Derbyshire.gov.uk When you have accepted the T&Cs click on
  • "Change map information"
  • select "Environmental"
  • select "Rights of Way"
  • move and zoom into the map using the icons at the bottom right of the map. It's best to zoom in by selecting the "+" icon then drawing a rectangle on the map over the area of interest.
  • When you have zoomed in enough the routes will appear with a green line overlying the OS map symbols. Zoom in further and labels will appear giving the route titles.
  • Click on a route and its details will appear in the left hand window.
Another useful source of green lane information is TrailWise, the National Database of RoW run by GLASS. On this site use either the Search or Browse maps feature to home in on the area in which you are interested. If you want access to all the information on this database this is included in GLASS membership.

Finally be aware that the Peak District National Park Authority is looking at up to 35 lanes with a view to applying TROs that prohibit driving of motor vehicles. For more information see their web site http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/looking-after/vehicles

Changes due to Derbyshire CC should not happen too often, but Peak Park are hell bent on TRO-ing up to about 35 routes so you will need to keep an eye on their web site.
Of course, every time PDNPA propose another TRO you will need to submit your objection. Note that to make life difficult for us they have become quite pedantic about how you submit your objection. For the Chapel Gate TRO consultation that ends today the only sure way has been via the form on their web web site.
