put air line down the pump end and seal the strainer off with duck tape you dont need a lot of pressure with the big ends it,s the top shell that will show wear not the bottom with your original sump was all the bits in the oil when you stripped it after losing pressure because all them bits will stil be in the oil ways in the block you need to wash as much off the bottom end as possible with derv paraffin use a paraffin gun on the air line messy but works
all the best

there was not really any bits to speak of,the oil was grit free and the sump bung had like paste stuck to the magnet.

when i inspected the pump it was just scored no chunks or any thing.

even when i pulled the pump apart the oil was not gritty inside.

was the paste greyish in colour if so that is the coating off the shell bearings
was the engine good before you fitted it other points over fuelling could cause fuel wash on the pistons diluting the oil and causing bore wear but i know you didn,t run it that long

no what was on the sump bung was black i rubbed it into some paper towl and it was all black, no silvery bits.

the engine was good as can be and all was striped before i put the engine in. bore wise looks good as i can see from the bottom and i have good compression still.

due to no silver stuff is that telling me the bearing shells are ok?

just done something I've been meaning to do. I've put a shock on my throttle. when I did have it on the road the throttle was very soft so it was too sensitive. I then put a spring on it to make it harder but it made it worse as it was then too springy.

this is what I done to solve it. its an rc buggy shock. fully adjustable so I can set it to what ever I want and it stops the throttle from being springy.

good tip for them builds with lots of power and little inersher.

v2 sump continued...

after messing around with it trying to get it to seal i thought it was not the best idea to braze the inside as it stops me being able to mig weld especially when it warps.

i've had enough the sump wont seal it just leaks! need to bite the bullet and start again. bummer!

Ok. I've had some money issues so it got put on hold
I had a boost problem that I have sorted, some of the
Hoses were collapsing under boost!
Then just as luck goes the big ends went.
So far every 4x4 I have owned I've done the big ends on!
So now I need to do shells, the weather is getting better so will
Start on it soon! Again!
