POSTING THIS ON BEHALF OF A PAL OF MINE, my pals 3.2 did engine has died, he's sourced an engine that came from a manual drive, can this engine be mated to an auto box? what does it involve? he's been told its just a flywheel and torque converter that needs sorting, is there more to it than this? Confused

As well as the driveplate (auto flywheel) you may probably need the rear plate off the back of the engine as well - obviously take them off the dead engine - unbolt the torque converter from the driveplate before removing the dead engine - this is done via the dust cover between the engine and gearbox underneath

Not to the mating between engine and gearbox

Ive had little dealings with the 3.2 did other than overheating problems, if this was a job that i was undertaking i would check out engine management sensors and positions.
If the crank sensor is picking up from the flywheel you need to check that the reluctor ring is the same on both auto and manual flywheels.
Some vehicles pick up off of the front crank pully on a manual and off of the flywheel on an auto. Also a lot of sensors are different for autos than manuals, you need to check they are compatable.
