at 100% veg in your car you stand a good chance of killing the pump - a heater will not help to start that....

veg oil is not good at lubricating, that is why the lucas pumps wont run for long on veg as they use the diesel to lube the inside of the pumps

2 stroke helps to lube the pump and burns cleaner than diesel or veg Wink and helps even more to shut the diesel rattle up Cool

i run 2 stroke in all my diesels now Cool

and before anyones says you cant mix 2 stroke and veg as it will turn to jelly are talking out there ass as i ihave a pint glass in the shed with both in and been in there for a year or 2 now

Veg is better at lubricating than diesel, Lucas pumps fail because they are not strong enough to pump cold oil.

veg oil is too thick to lube the open bearings in the lucas pump and thats why they fail Wink

I've found that veg oil gets sticky and semi-solidifies after a time and gums up the works - fuel lines and injectors - stuff in the fuel tank usually remains liquid unless it is cold. So if you don't use your truck for a few weeks you may find it won't start due to gummed up veg oil.

I think this only happens if you leave it for a few weeks without using it and it is OK if you use it on most days. This happens on an old Lister generating set I have (c 1940) that is otherwise bomb proof but is only used once in a blue moon. A good shot of petrol or parafin in the fuel line usually clears the problem.

Having said that the Lister is so over engineered that it it doesn't have enough power to wear itself out and seems to thrive on neglect and abuse!
