Hello people.
Finally bought a 404 the other day, It'll be dropped off at my workshop on Sunday afternoon. The feeling now is like Christmas but waaaaaaay better!
Owned a V8 Defender 90 for the last 4-5 years, Always enjoy going and getting stuck & S**t up!
I went self employed 2 years ago breaking anything and everything Land rover related so now fortunate enough to have a decent workshop and plenty of storage space.... This all obviously pointed towards getting a Mog.
Shall upload more pictures when it arrives. Very much a novice in the Unimog world so any help or advice along the way would be great!
Here are a couple of pictures of what it's like at present...
... Or maybe not, Seems I can't upload any images to this topic??
Cheers,
Bob

Many thanks for that! I'll take a look later on and download the workshop manual.
Does anyone know how I upload pictures to this forum/post?

the simplest way is too open a photobucket account and load the photos there, then link the photo location to the forum.
Enjoy your mog and don't be afraid to ask questions weve all had "issues" at some point and theres always someone who knows the answer.

Thanks for the replies!
OK - First question.... How the hell to I drive this beast?
Looks to me like clutch is on the left and brake to the right. Throttle is 'Handgas' I'm guessing... How about gears?
I've got a gear lever that goes back 3 times and across 3 by the feel of it.
There is another knob aswell which may be high/low box?
Then handbrake I'm guessing with another lever to the side of it... Possibly diff lockers? NO IDEA!!!
Goddamn this thing is ace- So much character! No foot well on passenger side haha. Mint.
Hopefully I'll be putting a 5.7 chevy in it sooner or later.
Is it going to be as simple as putting one in a Land Rover 90?
New bell housing adapter etc....??
Any help would be grand,
Thanks again!
Bob

Just how knackered is that bonnet which you're selling on the bay? I could kinda do with one for my other mog.

Thanks for your comments....
The bonnet on eBay isn't too bad but it's by no means perfect, I'll update this listing with a picture & if you'd like to make me an offer outside of ebay then that's fine.
So far as the MOG.....
Nearly got it running last night after half an hour of messing about!! - Easy start is good stuff haha
It's got a perkins diesel engine in apparently, no idea of what size but I'm guessing around 2.5 litre.
A chap came today to collect some old Land rover series parts and gave me a few pointers in the right direction. - Daft as it may sound I know very little about diesel engines as I've always used/ran v8 petrol/lpg vehicles. Have been told that there is nothing to them though so looking forward to learning more!
Thanks again, shall update tomorrow..
Bob
