I ran it through solid works but it's only as good as the programer and I'm not bad but certainly no expert on it. But even the best still need to visualise as well.

No not weight ! It was all to do with how much the diff pivoted in relation to the wishbones, as it was the diff would have pivoted the same amount as the wish bones but the diff needs to pivot half the amount of the wish bones to share out the cv angles. Left as it was the Center diff would have gone to 45 degrees with both sides on full droop.
I don't think there will be any more done on Saturday ! Very busy week.

When we think we've seen it all your work just gets even better and the goal posts for every other build move further away again...can't see you ever breaking those, or wearing them out. Interested to know material spec. for the spherical part which you heat treated and tempered so nicely?

Well you can't stand still can you ! It's all about constant improvement and if you can't buy what you want then you make it or have it made. I looked at the American uniballs and thought they where good but didn't quite fit what I wanted with all our mud and water.
The balls are en24 or if your American then it's 4340 cromo to you !

At 42 tonnes/ sq inch tensile strength I think that should do it quite nicely. and the nickel/chrome/molybdenum content will also help slow any corrosion. Perfect choice! Look forward to seeing this develop

Possibly a silly question but given the apparent length of the diff in the pics and the fact that they rotate as the axle flexes how are you going to support the input end of the diff and also as a function of the diff length how will you get drive out of the transfer case to the diff, will that be accommodated by wheelbase or are you planning a floating transmission of some kind?

BTW more pics please.
