well you're always going to get a biased opinion on here but as long as it has a lift and some good tyres i'ts as capable as anything. 110's can be too long for tight corners and hill crests while 90's can be too short and be prone to getting cross axeld. the main problem i find with the disco is a big overhang between the bumper and wheels for steep hill climbs and descents

Yep, i'll give you a biased opinion!!
I run a modded 200Tdi, Winch, Snorkel, 235.85R16 Cooper STT's, heavy duty steering bars, tank guard and rock sliders.
It is used to the limit on a regular basis at pay n play sites, a mates farm, setting out CCV trials and as a winch recovery vehicle at the local club trials so I do speak from experience, and I also use it for all my green laning as well.
I've had it stuck to its axles, through water half way up the windscreen (the big lake at Tong) had trees through the rear window, ripped the whole rear quarter off, had it on its side etc etc etc and it keeps coming back for more.
Different vehicles suit different terrain though. I have been in places where my 200 would go through where a D2 with axle lockers and all the toys couldn't, likewise i've been stuck in places where a wee suzuki was able to come around and hook me up for a quick recovery. I've driven through the same places that suzuki's were all getting stuck....... the list goes on.
I really rate the Discovery offroad and on.

Loads of them around here and they look pretty good modded up, mate of mine had one and didn't really rate it, said it was very heavy and prone to exploding...
As long as it doesn't end up looking like this one I'm sure it'll be just as good as anything else of the same sort of cost outlay...
...more or less

Look like ricep trials to me... They're about 90 quid a corner, mate of mine had a set on his Vit and he's looking to get a set for his Pajero.
I liked them on his Vit, however they are a sniff noisy...
